Are you thinking of a visit to Disneyland for the Diamond Anniversary this year? Did you know that you can stay steps from the entrance to Disneyland Resort and not break the bank? Fairfield Inn Anaheim is a gem of a hotel directly across the street from the magic. With theme park views, themed family suites and free wifi, this hotel hits the spot for budget friendly travel.
On a recent visit to Disneyland, I had to fly in the night before my meetings due to the time change. I am a Marriott rewards member and was using points for my one night stay. I chose what I thought would be a basic hotel for one night. I was mistaken; the Fairfield Inn Anaheim is anything but basic for a Disneyland guest. All 467 guest rooms are Disney inspired and 80% of the rooms are connecting. That is a very large number of connecting rooms, making this a great option for larger families or multi generational families traveling together.
What Works for Families
- Kid Check-In area
- Themed Suites
- Walking distance to Disneyland Resort
- Spacious rooms
- Free Wi-Fi in all rooms and lobby
- Game room and swimming pool
- Moderate pricing (around $199 for a standard overnight) during peak season
- 100% Non Smoking
- You can purchase park tickets at the front desk and avoid long lines at ticket windows
What Doesn’t Work for Families
- Dining options were only food court or Pizza Hut express
- No free breakfast
- If you have little ones that are in bed early, the fireworks may startle them in their sleep
- No theme park shuttle (this could be a bit of a hassle with little ones in strollers)
Fairfield Inn Anaheim Hotel Overview
Upon arrival. you think this is just another Fairfield Inn, but once you enter the lobby that changes. You will hear Disney music playing and next to the front desk is a kids check-in area with movies, coloring and fun games. The Fairfield Inn Anaheim is a Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel and offers guests the ability to purchase tickets in advance at the Disney Desk.
Check-in was very quick and in no time I was in my room. I didn’t know this, but I booked a themed family suite. These rooms are on the top seven floors of the hotel. Upon opening my door I was greeted Elsa and Anna in a cute Frozen-themed room. It was done in a way that you knew the theme but it wasn’t overdone. The rooms are very spacious and offer either a king bed and sleeper sofa or two queens and a sleeper. These rooms also offer a great view of Magic Kingdom Park, I walked out the door in the morning and was looking at Space Mountain. You get a theme park view and fireworks view without the hefty price-tag.
The main disappointment for me with this hotel was lack of dining options. There is a food court and a Pizza Hut express. You can also visit the lobby shop for packaged snacks. I arrived late and didn’t want to go out anywhere, but the options for dining at 9.30 p.m. are pretty slim. There is a McDonald’s directly out front of the hotel. I don’t eat there so that wasn’t a help to me. I would suggest packing snacks and drinks to keep in your room. There is a mini-fridge and microwave in each room.
When you aren’t enjoying the Disneyland Resort you can enjoy the southern California sunshine by the pool. The Fairfield Inn has a large outdoor pool perfect for all swimmers.
There are ample chairs, bathroom facilities and free towels for your use. All of these amenities are key when traveling with kids.
The hotel also has a game room should your kids need to unwind a bit after a long day in the parks. (That is, if they aren’t already exhausted from exploring Disneyland.)
I found the staff to be very knowledgeable and friendly, especially the concierge.
If you are driving to Anaheim you can park for $18 a night; otherwise, I would suggest the super shuttle from the airport for a small fee. It was relatively quick and the driver didn’t waste any time
This is a great moderately priced hotel right at the entrance to Disneyland. If you are looking for the little extras such as themed rooms, fireworks each night and free wifi; this is a great choice for your Disneyland vacation.
