Part of the fun of a trip to a Disney Park is to look the part, head to toe! Tee shirts, pins, jewelry, and bags are just a few ways we ladies jazz up our outfits to reflect our inner Disney fan girl. So, how about rocking a great Disney-themed manicure or pedicure? Fingers and toes make great canvases for Disney nail art. Here are 5 Disney nail design ideas for your next trip to Disney World.
Where do I start with ideas for a good Disney mani?
There are so many different ways to go with the Disney nail designs – it can be a little overwhelming. And if you are like me, I need to SEE just a few ideas in order to give my creativity a bit of a nudge in the right direction for what I can do on MY nails. Visual sites like Pinterest and Instagram are very helpful places to see what others have done. Then you can decide what you like and what works best for you. Every manicure or pedicure will look different, so don’t be afraid to borrow an idea and make it your own!
Salon Disney nails or DIY
Once you select what you want to go with for your Disney-themed expression, the next step is to be realistic about what you can and cannot do. Look at the design you are going for, and ask yourself: Can I do that at home? Can a friend do it? Or do I need the help of a salon nail artist to pull it off? I myself can do basic color blocking at home, but if a design of any kind is involved, I will treat myself and pay someone to do it well. After all, you will be looking at it for at least a couple of weeks, so it might as well look really good!
An additionally fun alternative is a set of nail wraps. These wraps are designed to adhere to the nails, and look as if they were painted on by a professional. They come in many Disney-inspired themes and creations.
1. Color themes for Disney nails
We all know that Mickey Mouse is highly recognizable due to his silhouette. But what about his color scheme? It is surprisingly easy to associate Mickey with the colors red, black, yellow and white. Why not do a manicure in those colors? For example, the Little Mermaid also makes for a great color palette to work with, making use of Ariel’s teal and purple and gold.
Here are some really creative ideas for Disney nail designs, by way of color themes:

Minimalist Little Mermaid-inspired nails. I was tired of the negative space design and I wanted something quick and simple I could do in a couple hours. And yes, if you're wondering, two of my nails broke over the weekend which is why they're part of the stub club and the rest aren't. I couldn't bear to file the rest down as short. I'm really upset about it and I don't want to talk about it. All colours are @rimmellondonuk except for the gold, which is @sinfulcolors_official. Base coat is @nailsinc Kensington Caviar and top coat is @glistenandglow1 HK Girl. #rimmel #rimmellondon #sinfulcolors #nailsinc #kensingtoncaviar #hkgirl #glistenandglow #nails #nailart #nailartist #mani #manicure #disney #disneynails #disneymani #thelittlemermaid #littlemermaid #ariel #ursula #nailart #minimalist #minimalistnails #minimalistmani #disneyinspired #disneyinspo
2. Character themes
Maybe you are more of a Disney character fan, and you want your nails to be an homage to a particular character or movie. Again, a color set related to that character is fun, but why not try one or more of the actual characters on your nails? I haven’t yet tried this approach because as I mentioned before, I’m not that artistically gifted. Not even with the basic Mickey head silhouette! Nevertheless, these designs are pretty amazing when done right:

3. Mother/daughter themes
Most little girls love to get their nails painted like mommy does. Why not bond over mother/daughter Disney nail designs? Doing nails on a little one is a matter of using a simple design or color scheme. That way, little miss won’t have to be still for too long while getting her pretty manicure. Choosing colors from a favorite movie might be the way to go:
4. Race Day Disney nails
Other ideas may include race day themes. Disney hosts several premier, themed running events each year as part of their runDisney program. In addition to donning a running costume that represents the theme of the race, many participants will get their nails done too!

5. And don’t forget those toesies!
Sometimes it’s just not practical to paint Disney nail art on the fingernails. I know for myself, a regular manicure doesn’t last long on my slightly oily nail beds. So what is a gal to do? That is where the toes come into play!
WDW is in a warmer climate most of the year, and Disney nail art on the toes will be well seen while sporting sandals. The pedicure can last longer, and you can use more vibrant colors and designs. And if you don’t want your littles to have polish on their fingernails, this is a fun alternative.
What is your favorite way to represent for Disney in your mani? We’d love to hear about some of your creative Disney nail art ideas!
