Ah. To travel like the royals do. You may not have the servants. Or the crown jewels. But with this list of places in the United Kingdom where the royals have visited, you can feel like a royal yourself. These 9 destinations, suggested by Visit Britain, are some of the most romantic spots in UK – Scotland, Wales and England.

Visitors to London are spoiled for choice when it comes to romantic experiences. You can find romance simply by touring around this beautiful city to see some of its famous spots, like Big Ben and Parliament. If you like adventure, you can even rent a car and drive around the city-. Just remember, the Brits drive on the other side of the road. (This is also important to remember when walking across a street. Definitely look both ways before you cross the street!)

1. London Eye

Take a champagne flight on the London Eye. It’s a popular spot for popping the question – especially if you rent a private capsule).

2. Hyde Park

Pack a picnic and head to Hyde Park.  Stroll along Lover’s Lane, a beautiful tree-lined pathway that stretches south from Marble Arch and Speaker’s Corner.

3. Cowarth Park Hotel

Cowarth Park is the only hotel in Britain to have its own polo field and equestrian center (or as they spell it across the Pond, centre). Prince William and his princess, Kate Middleton, share a love for horses (she loves to ride and he’s an avid polo player). This country house hotel is just the kind of spot they might choose for a quick weekend break. It’s located about an hour outside of London in the quaint town of Ascot. It’s also very close to Windsor Castle, the Queen’s weekend retreat.

4. Bath

Relax as the Romans once did in a rooftop spa with breathtaking views over the Georgian City. Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to award winning restaurants, luxurious hotels and romantic B&Bs. It’s also home to the Thermae Bath Spa, which uses the same mineral-rich waters the Celts and Romans used 2,000 years ago

5. Burgh Island

To really get away from it all, you can’t beat Burgh Island Hotel. Linked to South Devon by a tidal causeway, this romantic Art Deco hotel couples 1930s glamour with 21st century amenities. Burgh Island has been a favorite of young romantics since it opened in 1928. Agatha Christie, Noel Coward and Lord Mountbatten have all stayed here.

6. Inverlochy Castle

Nestled in the foothills of the mighty Ben Nevis ( Britain ’s highest mountain), Inverlochy Castle has impressive royal roots. In September 1873, Queen Victoria spent a week painting and sketching here. She wrote in her diary, “I never saw a lovelier or more romantic spot.” A private residence until 1969, Inverlochy Castle is now one of Scotland ’s finest hotels, with 17 intimate guest rooms in total.

7. White Winter Walk

Nothing gets the heart beating faster than bundling up in your warm winter woolies and heading out on a winter walk. Known as “Big Tree Country,” Perthshire is the spot for a stroll with your sweetheart. Experience the tumbling white waterfalls of Bruar and stroll the 250 miles of paths through ancient woodland that sparkles with winter frost.

Wales

Following their royal wedding, Prince William and his bride headed to their home in Anglesey, North Wales.

8. Bodysgallen Hall

Located in North Wales, Bodysgallen Hall & Spa offers breathtaking views over the Snowdonia Mountain range. One of the most romantic places in Wales, it sits on 200 acres of parkland. The 17th century hotel looks down on the medieval castle at Conwy and features divine cuisine, an indulgent spa and, for an extra romantic experience, a handful of private cottages scattered around the grounds.

9. Lake Vyrnwy Hotel

Built in 1890, the view from this Victorian Country House Hotel and Spa is dominated by the magnificent Victorian reservoir and its fairy tale tower. There are great walking trails and spectacular vistas from almost every room.

I’ve enjoyed some but not all — good incentive to return to London. Thanks.
