There are two types of accommodations that I always look for when I travel with my family, boutique hotels and vacation rentals. They are always the best for traveling with kids. This time I decided to stay in a boutique hotel called La Caleta Bay Hotel in Playa La Herradura Spain. I had high expectations and the hotel didn’t disappoint. We loved it. It even offers free wine and coffee.

Do you remember that not long ago the hotels used to shower visitors with all sorts of welcoming goodies? I had almost forgotten about this. Now, pretty much every hotel offers nothing, maybe a glass of water if you are lucky and the ‘included in the price’ breakfasts are toast with butter and jam, coffee and cereal with milk.

Our Five Star Stay at Playa La Herradura Spain – La Caleta Bay Beach Hotel

One of my favorite lodging options whenever I travel are Boutique hotels. If my family and I are looking for a hotel these are the only ones I look for as our home base.

I am so glad I picked Caleta Bay for this trip. It surpassed everything I wished for.

Here’s why:

Greet and Meet – When we got to the hotel Rosa was waiting for us. She is a star, one of those people that genuinely have that special something. She was so welcoming and patient with my family of four.

Wine and Cava – In the reception area you will see two stands. One filled with white wine, red wine and cava for the guests. But the cool part is that this is offered free and you can get some 24 hours a day.

Gourmet Coffees, Teas and Juices – The second station serves you all sorts of great coffee, a huge assortment of gourmet teas, juices and snacks. This is also available for free, 24 hours a day.

Patio – There is also a gorgeous patio from where you see the best sunsets over the beach.

When I arrive to a beach town, I have three objectives:

1. See the sunset – This is non-negotiable.
2. Play time – My boys love to play in the sand. So we always have to spending time on the beach.
3. Beach Cafe – I prefer to be at a beach café when the sunset happens enjoying a glass of wine.

We were able to enjoy all three things without having to leave the hotel.

The Rooms

We stayed at the quad family room. This is basically two rooms connecting to each other and sharing the bathroom.

One of the rooms has a queen size bed and the other one has two individual beds.

Each room has a mini fridge that is stocked with juices, water and cava. Normally, this is considered a mini bar and the prices tend to be double what they would be on the local store outside the hotel. But in La Caleta Bay it was free, you can even ask for more!

The bathroom is also stocked with anything you might need. Not just a shampoo and a soap. This is something that I haven’t seen in ages, and we normally stay in five star resorts and hotels.

The breakfast at was huge and so delicious. IT was a buffer and whatever isn’t on it can be ordered and brought out to you.

Cars and Parking

The off season is a good time for you to have a car because you can park anywhere but during the busy season you have to pay every two hours. This hotel offers free parking right in front of it.

Conclusion

I must say that this has been one of the most enjoyable hotels stays that my family and I have experienced in a long time.
