exterior-DoubletreeGetting away to a resort hotel can provide all the essentials for a great girlfriends’ getaway. Look for a hotel that offers a spa, restaurant and other services you’ll need under one roof so that you can spend more time relaxing and less time fretting about where to go and how to get there.

I recently stayed at the Doubletree Resort & Spa Niagara Falls on a family trip. The hotel, located a few blocks from the Niagara Falls and attractions, as well as Clifton Hill area, provides a full service restaurant, spa, coffee bar, fitness center, pool, and seasonal sundeck with an outdoor hot tub. Book a one- or two-night stay and savor a girlfriends’ getaway with relaxing spa treatments and casual fine dining.

Relax in a Guest Room or Suite

The Doubletree aveda-spaResort and Spa has 224 guest rooms, including two-room suites with separate living and sleeping areas, and a sleeper sofa. Most rooms offer views of the Niagara River, and some have views of the American Falls as well. What’s more, all rooms have a mini-fridge, where you can stock up on beverages and treats to enjoy in your room. Consider booking a suite for your girls’ weekend for maximum comfort and plenty of room to spread out.

Melt Away Mom Stress with Spa Treatments

Relax and refresh with a massage, facial or other treatment at the Five Lakes Aveda Day Spa, located in the lobby level. The 55-minute Fusion Stone Massage melts away mom stress and muscle soreness with the use of massage, hot stones, and hot towels.

The hot stones are placed along the spine, which increases the internal temperature of the spinal column and surrounding tissue, thus expanding and dilating the blood vessels, says Jennifer Hipwell, spa manager.

As a result, sweating and circulation both increase and metabolism quickens. Ultimately, the muscle tissue relaxes and provides a sedative and relaxing effect on the body.

About 20-30 stones are used per treatment, depending on each individual’s needs.

Meet for Drinks at Moose & Squirrel Coffee & Pub

For a morning caffeine fix or afternoon pick me up, the Moose & Squirrel inside the lobby provides comfy chairs and Starbucks coffee drinks. A seasonal outdoor patio provide additional outdoor seating during thedoubletree-restaurant warmer months.

Enjoy Fine Dining in a Lodge Setting Restaurant

Buchanans restaurant, on the second floor, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner menus in a rustic, yet sophisticated setting. From noon until 6 p.m., the restaurant offers the Savour Niagara menu, which features $5 VQA Niagara wines and $5 appetizers – stop in for drinks and a snack, or make a meal out of it.

Walk to the Falls and Fallsview Casino

The Doubletree is steps away from the American and Canadian Falls, as well as the Fallsview Casino. Enjoy the falls and roll the dice at the casino, or just take a stroll to see the area sights. For a longer walk, the Clifton Hill area offer several dining choices, as well as museums and attractions including the Casino Niagara, Guinness World Records, and the Hard Rock Cafe.

Disclosure: My stay and one spa treatment were hosted by the Doubletree Fallsview Resort & Spa by Hilton. Any opinions expressed are my own and were not influenced by HIlton.
