Garmisch, Germany is a storybook town at the foot of beautiful mountains. We are lucky enough to visit Garmisch because we currently have family living there and they love to show off all of the family-friendly activities.
One of our favorite travel moments of all time was the walk through the Partnachklamm. Starting at the 1936 Olympic Ski Jump Stadium, it is a twenty minute walk to the gorge. For a small fee, you can walk through the gorge and see the rushing river. In the wintertime, the waterfalls are all frozen solid in mid air! The walk is lengthy but is an easy walk. Go sledding in the winter or the summer! In the wintertime, sledding can be found around every corner. There are great hills and the Olympic Ski Jump is open for sledding as well. In the summertime, there are sled runs too! To cool off in the summertime, visit one of the many swimming pools that open up.
Drive to Neuschwanstein Castle and see the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyworld. Explore Downtown Garmisch and look for the paintings on the walls of the homes. The homes are beautifully decorated with paintings. If you have the time, take the train to Munich. The kids will love the hour train ride into town.
