Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis breathed new life into Laclede’s Landing in downtown St. Louis. The five-star luxury hotel transformed the formerly dive-y area. We would go to Laclede’s Landing when I was in college for cheap bars and food. Now, everything at the Four Seasons screams luxury. Well, maybe whispers it. When you know you’re at the top of the food chain, you don’t need to roar.

The hotel’s best feature is the stunning view of the gleaming Gateway Arch. Floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the hotel take advantage of this view.

Downtown Location

The Four Seasons attached to the Horseshoe St. Louis Casino, is walking distance from The Gateway Arch, the riverfront, and many places to eat, hear music, or try one of the many free things to do in St. Louis. It is also walking distance from the convention center and Busch Stadium, home to the baseball Cardinals.

One of the new St Louis attractions, not too far away, is Citypark. The beautiful soccer stadium is the home of St. Louis City SC, a Major League Soccer franchise.

The Fours Seasons has a scenic address on the west bank of the Mississippi River, near the iconic Gateway Arch. It is easy to explore the city and its abundance of museums, restaurants and dynamic fun attractions, including City Museum, America’s Center, and Laclede’s Landing.

Arch View Room

When I visited, I stayed in an Arch View Room. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered a spectacular of the Gateway Arch. The bright and airy room had plush linens, a plush robe and a rain shower plus a separate tub.

My room had a Nespresso machine, huge flat-screen television and a table for working or enjoying in-room dining.

treated to a tour of the over the top suite. But a girl can dream.

The hotel also has smaller suites, and amenities for families that include board games, a DVD player and children’s movies, all on loan for free.

Four Seasons St. Louis Restaurants

Cinder House Restaurant

The James Beard award-winning chef Gerard Craft gives Cinder House, and the bar, a South American-inflected menu. The wood-fired hen of the woods mushroom appetizer was delicious and the vegan butternut squash risotto with cashew cheese was decadent and flavorful without a bit of dairy. I left the ham off my very fresh little gem salad, which had avocado and crispy shallots and tons of umami.

Other options include sweet potato soup, piri piri chicken, scallops and a vegetable rice bowl.

Midwestern tastes dictate large portions, but save room for dessert. I savored every morsel of the rich chocolate cake with dulce de leche and espresso caramel.

Cinder Bar

This bar has a huge outdoor patio, with a view of the Arch of course, plus an indoor space, with a fireplace, for cooler weather. You can get well-crafted cocktails, micro brews on tap or a local Budweiser. The bar is great for families, too, with light bites like tacos, empanadas and yucca fries.

Room Service

If you are in a hurry, some breakfast items on the room service menu are guaranteed to be delivered in 20 minutes. My overnight oat, with ginger and a bowl of berries, took only 10 minutes. And my tray included a bud vase with a couple of flowers. A lovely (though pricey) way to start the day. If you’re really in a hurry, the casino has a Starbucks.

Another day I had the avocado toast, with microgreens, crispy chickpeas, radishes and tomatoes. I could eat this every day.

What to do at the Four Seasons St, Louis

Fitness Center

The 24-hour fitness center has plenty of room, with cardio machines, free weights and my favorite piece of equipment, a bosu ball. But a Peloton recall meant stationary bikes weren’t available. If you are a runner, you can head out to the trail along the Mississippi.

Topgolf Swing Suite

The Top Golf Swing Suite, a golf simulator chain, has virtual golf along with other interactive games. If you work up an appetite playing these games, which include dodgeball, hockey and baseball, you can also get food.

Spa at Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis

The full-service luxury Spa at Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis offers massages, body treatments, nail services and facials. Make sure you schedule plenty of time to enjoy the whirlpool, infrared sauna, steam room, co-ed relaxation lounges and tranquility pool.

Heated Outdoor Pool

The stunning heated outdoor pool, with an adjacent hot tub, is a gorgeous place to relax or go for a swim. The rooftop pool (on the 7th floor; the hotel goes to the 19th floor) has comfortable lounge chairs and a food and beverage service. You can rent a cabana for privacy or to get out of the sun.

Hot Tub

The jets in the hot tub last for a long time. A soak after a cramped flight can be just what the doctor ordered. A pool attendant will set you up with a lounge cover, fluffy towel and welcome jug of ice water.
