I’ve looked at the Highlander for our family of six, but although you managed to get luggage in for a 3-day trip, there’s no way it would work for 7-10 days, nor for winter survival gear that always takes up space in our Minnesota winters. I don’t think I’d even get a week’s worth of groceries in there!

It’s too bad, because if we ever move from our minivan (which is a Toyota, 8-passenger, with a lot of cargo space) to an SUV, it looks like Chevy Suburban is the only one that will have the seating and cargo capacity we need.

I wish there were more and better options. Thanks for the real-world review.

I have a Suburban and it is a tank to drive around. Plus it doesn’t hold its value. We get around 12 MPG and always have a hard time parking. It is great, tho, for short trips with the kids + friends to ski, overnight etc.
