honda2Last year I did something I never thought I would do. I officially became a minivan mom {or as some of my friends like to call me a soccer mom}.

I’m not a car person and don’t know much about them. However, I have to admit I tried to fight it and was completely shocked when my husband {who infact is very much a car guy} persuaded me into it.

With our second son arriving in a month, we needed a vehicle that would give us more room and allow my then 2 1/2 year old the ability to get in and out of the car himself.  I wanted a SUV but my husband made a few very validate points about purchasing a minivan.

He did a ton of research and decided that the Honda Odyssey was the perfect fit for us.

The result…I’m in love! A year later and I couldn’t be happier. When I am driving, I don’t get the feeling like I am driving a huge oversized vehicle like I thought I would.  Half of the time I really forget I am driving a minivan and often feel like I am driving that highend SUV I always wanted. But then I get a glimpse of myself in the rearview mirror and snap back into reality!

By the end of the day my back often aches. Lugging kids into the car, bending over to buckle them up, unbuckling them, picking them back up, carrying them into the house….well you get the picture.  This is pretty much a mom’s life every day.  With the minivan, my kids can now both climb into the van and get into their seats by themselves.  There is no more slouching over car seats as I can stand comfortably while fastening them into their seats, a huge plus for me.

My sense of direction isn’t the greatest and since my kids and I are always on the go visiting new places, the navigation system has been a lifesaver! This was actually a feature we weren’t going to buy but decided it would probably be very beneficially in the long run. I use it about 2 – 3 times a week and it alleviates the need to read handwritten directions while trying to drive and tend to the kids.

And did I mention how much room it has? When traveling it makes it super convenient to put the third row seating down and use the back to change the kids and clean them up.  Did you ever try to change a baby in the backseat of a car? Nearly impossible.  This has made my life so much easier. However, I would of loved to have a trunk that automatically pops open by a click of a button.

I’m in love with my Odyssey and a proud minivan mom!
