Sarah Gilliland, Twins TravelingMom

Sarah Gilliland, Twins TravelingMom

Sarah Gilliland is a mom to fraternal twin girls, lover of road trips big and small, and a passionate SEC football fan (War Eagle!). Although her father’s military service took her all over the world as a child, Sarah's family now calls Birmingham, Alabama home. Sarah happily shares the ups and downs of her parenting journey at Sarah in the Suburbs, and she co-authors a Disney fan blog with two wonderful friends called The Mouse and the Monorail. When she’s not writing or traveling, Sarah is digging deep into a good book, binging on Netflix, or planning other people's vacations.

What You Need to Know About Disney Cruise Line Character Meets

Earlier this year, my family cruised on the Disney Magic for the first time. It was our first ever Disney Cruise Line Vacation, and my girls first cruise. From the moment we stepped foot inside the terminal in Port Canaveral, Florida, I knew we were in for a special vacation. Frequenting Walt Disney World as much as my family does, I didn’t think we’d want to take time to meet Disney Cruise Line character meets on this trip, but boy was I wrong. Meeting characters only adds to the magic you and your family can experience on a cruise. Tips...

Planning Your Visit to Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Georgia

Recently, I was invited to attend opening night of Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Georgia. I have not attended a Fright Fest event since I was in high school, so it’s been over 10 years since I’ve seen what they’ve been up to. While scary events are not typically my thing, I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun I had on my recent visit. 6 Places to Experience Autumn in the South

While “experience autumn in the south” may sound like an oxymoron, I am a witness to the fact that our seasons do indeed change. They may not follow the traditional seasonal calendar,  but if you are headed our way this fall, you’ll be in for a real treat. Our trees change color ever so slowly, the humidity lowers to a manageable range, and we have an extended playtime in the fallen leaves before winter winds sweep them away (I use the word “winter” lightly there). Just because the south isn’t “known” for our fall atmosphere doesn’t mean we don’t have any. 6 Places to...

5 Family Fun Spots in Memphis, Tennessee

My husband and I have visited Memphis, Tennessee as teenagers and adults, but we never really considered it a family destination. We were recently invited as a family to visit the city best known for blues, brews, and barbecue. We left with a new perspective on the town. My family is proof that you shouldn’t judge a book, or in this case a city, by its cover. Memphis, Tennessee is about a 4 and a half hour drive from my hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. Like my beloved Birmingham, Memphis is a city continually working toward improving its community for the...
