But even in the summer, Arizona has plenty to offer — and some incredible off-season deals on luxury resorts! Stay at one of these splurge-worthy Arizona resorts any time of the year for a family vacation to remember long after your sun tan fades.
When the dreary winter settles over Chicago, I find myself dreaming of fun in the sun and warmth. One of my favorite spots for almost guaranteed year-round sunshine is Arizona. From Flagstaff to Tucson, Arizona offers sunshine and outdoor fun that ranges from hikes in the desert to award-winning golf courses.
Home to Grand Canyon National Park, Sedona’s gorgeous red rock country, the vibrant urban center of Phoenix, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley and the impressive saguaro cacti and fiery sunsets of Tucson, Arizona also offers a wide choice of family-friendly resorts.
Here, we round up our TravelingMoms’ favorite kid-friendly Arizona resorts. Many welcome pets, some offer uber luxury and all have that Arizona must-have: swimming pools where families can cool off in the desert heat.

The Westin Kierland has the family-friendly features you want – large rooms, a kids club, on-property dining and lots of fun water activities, including a FlowRider and lazy river. TravelingMom Kristi Mehes has stayed there twice — once when her son was a toddler and again when he was a tween. Her favorite things about this resort include the pools, the spacious rooms with a balcony that gave her a quiet place to hang out while her son napped and the mini-fridge that made it easy to keep snacks and drinks on hand. And, of course, it’s a Westin, which means the rooms come with those luxurious Heavenly® Beds.
Why it Works for Families
- Adventure Water Park, with a 900-foot lazy river, a 110-foot water slide, the FlowRider, a zero-entry area, cabanas and islands.

The décor, the staff and restaurant are all top notch.
