Corn mazes are becoming a very popular fall activity, and we have some great ones here in Texas. In the state where “everything’s bigger,” you really have to see these few we have found. These top Texas corn mazes have elaborate themes, take a while to get through, and are fun for the whole family!
My family loves to get lost in corn mazes, the more elaborate the better, and in Texas, we are known for making some pretty crazy corn mazes. In the past years, we have seen odes to Texas Longhorns, Snoopy, Willie Nelson and more. It never ceases to amaze us how they can grow these corn stalks in such elaborate patterns.

We have a lot of fun corn mazes to choose from in the state of Texas, so we thought it would be fun to show you some that you can get lost in.
Barton Hill Farms – Bastrop, Texas
On the banks of the Colorado River outside of Bastrop, Texas, lies a 5 acre corn maze that has some of the best themes each year. For 2016, they have an incredible Lonesome Dove themed maze. Open on weekends, this maze is designed for you to get lost in. It has 6 different sets of interactive clues to help you get through and generally takes 45 minutes to complete. The farm also has several fall fun activities like hay rides, pumpkin patch, and live music.
South Texas MAiZE – Hondo, Texas
The South Texas MAiZE is located on the Groff Family Farm in Hondo, Texas and is known for elaborate, twisty, mind-bending fun. This 7-acre maze tackles supporting farmers, an initiate that local Texas grocery store chain, H-E-B, takes seriously. And the maze is serious business too – taking more than an hour to complete! Locals enjoy coming back year after year, as this maze continues to out-do itself. Enjoy a fun day at the farm with other fun fall activities.
Sweet Berry Farms – Marble Falls, Texas
Sweet Berry Farms is located in Marble Falls, Texas and they always has an “A-Mazing Texas” Maze. Each year, the maze shape is the same, but the challenge that participants have to undergo to get through changes. In the shape of Texas, this year’s theme is Presidents & Vice Presidents. Armed with a map, participants walk through the maze looking for towns (that exist in Texas) whose name resembles a past president or vice president. When you reach one of the twelve towns, you receive a “punch”. Find them all to win a small prize. This is a complex maze that takes a bit of work and time to complete, but fun nonetheless.
Yesterland Farms – Canton, Texas
Yesterland Farms is about an hour east of Dallas, Texas, in Canton. It is a great place for fall fun, featuring a pumpkin patch, amusement rides, an apple cannon and more. This year’s 3-acre corn maze is in the shape of The Great Pumpkin. One difference that sets this corn maze apart is that one can enjoy the corn maze during the day or try the “Creepy Corn Maze” for a scare at night. Imagine trying to find your way out of this maze in the dark with spooking things jumping out at you?
Dewberry Farm – Katy, Texas
The prize for the most relevant corn maze this election year has to go to the Donald & Hillary maze at Dewberry Farm in Katy, Texas, just outside of Houston. On top of it being a fun poke at the upcoming election, it features several fun puzzles to solve along the way. This farm also has a fun pumpkin patch, over 35 attractions and yummy fall treats.
If you can’t make it to Texas to visit one of these elaborate corn mazes, we encourage you to seek out a fun one in your area. And check out these great tips to know before you go:
- Dress appropriately – wear pants and closed-toe shoes.
- Bring Sunscreen/Hat & Bug spray
- Take water – just in case you get lost…..
- Weather is a big factor on availability of a maze – most farm owners will not be open if the fields are too muddy.
So plan a fun fall afternoon and go get lost in a maze!
