1. The Breakers in Palm Beach

Be one of the upper class – at least for a night – at the Gilded Age hotel Henry Flagler built so his wealthy friends and socialites could escape blustery New York to a palm-filled Florida oasis. As Flagler envisioned it 100 years ago and has remained so until today, The Breakers Palm Beach is the choice of former presidents, modern-day industrialists and billionaire National Football League owners.

But it’s also a great family choice because of its amazing beachfront locations, Family Entertainment Center, pools aplenty and even a dedicated family restaurant. Meanwhile, adults will enjoy outdoor patios and bars at almost every corner of the building, a health club, spa, tennis and oceanfront golf course. There’s free wifi, free parking and no resort fee.

Taking up a wide swath of Palm Beach island, The Breakers and its Ocean Golf Course are situated on 140 acres of oceanfront property on the island of Palm Beach, Florida. Call it four stars or five stars – however best you want to describe it – this is the Palm Beach hotel especially for families.

To understand how The Breakers came to flourish and thrive, it seems almost mandatory to visit Whitehall, Henry Morrison Flagler’s Gilded Age mansion that sits on Lake Worth directly opposite The Breakers.
