Hey, it can’t all be about family vacation travel!
Before kids, (BK), I went tandem hang gliding in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Twice. First time, my pilot -- a very cute 22 year old Carioca -- forgot his camera. He told me that he would take me again for free. The first time we ran off the cliff together (literally) to start our ride, I closed my eyes. That’s how frightened I was.
Every summer my beloved state of Vermont gets an influx of tourists. I can't blame them. Vermont in the summer is a beautiful place and while we may be known for our snow and skiing, Vermont summers are truly some of the most picturesque that I have ever witnessed.
I’ll never forget the first time I traveled as a mom, my baby girl was 3-months old and we had a 2-week vacation planned. We were spending a long weekend seeing the sights in San Francisco, 5 days snowboarding in Park City, then a week in San Diego visiting family. Looking back, I guess that was kind of an aggressive itinerary.
What is it about traveling that puts me into a twilight zone of sorts in the week before I leave? Anxiety starts to set in, telling me that I won't get enough work done before I go. I won't remember to pack something important. I won't have time to get the pedicure that I so desperately need as my toes see sunshine for the first time in months. I won't, I won't, I won't.
