christmas-village-philadelphiaThe holidays don't have to be stressful. Even if you're traveling. Really. These four tips can help.

1. Plan ahead. Make a list of all the things you'll need to bring with you wherever you are going. Send gifts ahead of time. Use apps. If you need help remembering what to pack, check out our TravelingMom tips for making packing lists.

chasefreedom2. Save money. Few things cause stress like the post-holiday money crunch. So save money by using a credit card that gives you money back on your holiday and travel spending. Chase Freedom pays 5 percent cash back on up to $1,500 in purchases at Best Buy and Kohl's and on purchases made directly on hotel rooms and airlines from now through December 31, so long as you activate your by December 15.

Whether you are traveling with your family or have out-of-town guests, I have a solution that will make you comfortable and that gives back: If you book a two-night weekend stay (Thursday-Saturday) at a Hilton Garden Inn and you ask for the "Holidays with Heart" rate, Hilton Garden Inn will make a donation to Feeding America to help fight hunger. The company has pledged to donate up to $40,000, an amount that can feed a whopping 500,000 hungry people. You get something too: complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast! This is a great deal for a great cause and it's available at all U.S. hotel locations until January 6, 2013, making holiday lodging a breeze through the New Year.

lg-hero4. Pack the right gear. Of course, you need to pack toys, games and your kid’s favorite electronics before traveling to keep the kids occupied. But it's also important for moms to have tools that will make their travel easier too. Check out the new LG Optimus L9 smartphone, available from T-Mobile. Sleek and stylish, the L9 is the perfect tool to keep busy moms organized thanks to exclusive apps such as QuickMemo. Download tons of great apps from the Google Play store for everything from task-management to booking flights.

Here's the best part: The LG Optimus L9 comes with a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, voice shutter and 1080 HD recording. And it costs only $49.99 with a two year agreement. You get all the features of the most expensive smart phones for a fraction of the cost.

Good mentions on #'s 1 and 4; I am definitely using a few apps this year, to make the travel burden a little lighter, and will absolutely be bringing a few things to entertain the kids with. I got the free DISH Remote Access app, and love that I can bring my entire home TV setup with me to use when the kids get bored. We have the usual goody-bag of toys, books and homework, lol, but this app helps in the down time. I get two weeks vacation from DISH each year, so when we travel now, we like having the kids favorite cartoons and movies along the way. The wife also likes watching the Weather Channel, just to make sure our destination hasn't floated away!
