The one thing I love about living in New York City is that on any given day, there is a movie or television show shooting somewhere.
I don't go out of my way to look for them but they always seem to pop up as I am out walking, most notably the Law and Order series. In addition, to filming at Silvercup Studios in Long Island City, all the location shots are done in New York City.
So if you are movie or television buff, you might want to check out onlocationvacations.combefore you venture out on your sightseeing day. The site provides you with locations of movies and television shows that are being shot that day as well as upcoming shoots. It tells who is in the movie which is fantastic because, often times, you will see a sign on the street telling you there is going to be shoot on that particular block but you have no idea who is in it, so you just move on.
