Q: What’s the best way to keep summer things easily accessible without creating big messes or piles? I try every year to put things aside, but before summer has even begun they are scattered everywhere.
A: I love big, colorful bins and baskets. Clear out a space in the garage where you can keep bins filled with Frisbees, balls, towels, flip flops, etc. It works because items can be tossed in. This seems to at least get things back into their proper places. Color coding works great, too. Pick a consistent color theme for items related to each season. And another simple tip is to clear out and store off-season items. Snowshoes and ski gear take up space that can be used for boogie boards and beach chairs.
