One of the best purchases I ever made was a Trunki suitcase for each of my boys. These ingenious little plastic pieces of luggage double as a ride-on toy and have entertained my children, and passers by, on many trips.

 

I bought the Trunkis back when they were hard to find, now I see them sold in gift shops at airports and just about everywhere. They have held up surprisingly well given the abuse my boys heap on them.

 

If you're wondering if they work for actual carrying of clothes, they do--as long as the clothes are somewhat small, well rolled and tightly edited. I often let the boys fill their Trunkis with an extra sweatshirt and toys for the trip, though they have been used as their only suitcase on occasion.

 

The boys have figured out that they can lash their Trunkis together and make a train (usually Dad gives in and pulls).  The only downside being that they've taken out a few passengers at the ankles.

 

They have been the most help though during layovers or while waiting for delayed flights. Airports are filled with ramps, which seem to have been made specifically for Trunki races. Here are my boys entertaining themselves, and everyone around them, while waiting for a flight to Turks and Caicos.
