So your child has graduated to a booster seat and you are nervous about her safety. It’s understandable. But there are several new booster seats on the market that have undergone intense research and development with engineers exceeding the safety standards required by the National Highway Traffic and Safety Association. Chicco’s KeyFit Strada Booster, the company’s first booster seat, which was introduced this year, is one such seat.
It’s recommended for children from 4 to 10 years in age or up to 57 inches tall and up to 100 pounds. The seat converts to a backless booster for children 40 pounds and up and the height adjustable backrest conforms to nine positions. The height and width are adjustable with one hand. The “EPS” or Energy Absorbing Foam provides enhanced protection for impact and there’s triple side protection for the head, shoulders and lumbar. Not that it matters for safety, but they even threw in a cup holder.
My 5-year-old has used this seat for nearly a week now and it’s the first booster seat that hasn’t had her begging for her old Britax car seat again (she has always called that her “comfy chair” and was reluctant to graduate to a booster seat). Now, with its recognition as one of the safest models on the market in a recent survey by the Insurance Institute, it seems like a no-brainer as a mom’s choice in booster seats.
