Kia Optima Hybrid 2012The 2012 Kia Optima Hybrid changed my mind about what my next car will be. My roots run deep in Kentucky, land of the 4-wheel drive truck, so I had not even considered a sedan as my next car. I have driven a Suburban for so long I would feel like I was riding on the ground.
But times change. My oldest child has his driver's license so we are often a family of 4 driving fewer kids around, which means we have no need for another gas guzzling SUV. A small SUV was my compromise: better gas mileage, some elevation and they are a whole lot easier to park. After test driving the Kia Optima Hybrid, I may not need to compromise.

My expectations before test driving the Kia Optima Hybrid were not high or low, just sort of doing my job. I was very suprised when I balked at having to give it back.

Many of the features that cost buyers more on a sedan come standard on the Kia Optima Hybrid: alloy wheels, sunroof, rearview camera, satellite radio, bluetooth, push button start. It looks super sporty but not juvenile and the interior feels like the sticker price on the car is a lot higher than it is (around $25,000). Test drive it and you will see what I mean.

This car was provided to me by Kia Motors to test drive. My opinion is my own.

I always do a double take when I see these cars, they look just like a Lexus!

I had no idea Kia made a Hybrid! Love the "captain's seat" feeling. Thanks Kim....
