Usually flight attendants are very helpful with the children. If you are lucky, they might even have a chance to be brought to the cockpit. Coloring books and their favorite snacks is always a good thing to pack, comfy clothes and a small pillow will help with the sleep.I would not worry about the juices, since it can create a problem at security (liquids) and also, the airlines do have juices available as well.Make sure to take some gum, because once the plane takes off and lands, the kids will feel the pressure in their ears and chewing gum can solve that problem.
I have realized that half of the stuff I pack just for the kids, I do not even use while flying ( I fly a lot with my children, national and international). So do not over pack, because at the end, you will be the one to carry it AND have to tend to the children. My kids (12,9,5 and 3) love to have their own little carry-ons; for the two little ones, I make sure their bags are small enough to fit into my carry-on if needed.
Enjoy your stay in Germany, it is beautiful over there!

We have family in Germany and have traveled there several times with our children who are now 3 and 5. Plan on bringing lots of snacks and treats for the trip. Neither of my children will eat airline food (or much else for that matter!) so we always pack them their meals. Be sure to pack yourself an extra shirt in case a juice tumbles off of the seat tray. Bring a DVD player with their favorite movies because even though you will most likely have a personal movie player in front of you, a)they don't always work and b)the children's movies are usually limited. Pack toys that they haven't seen before, new coloring books and crayons and pull them out one at a time throughout the trip. Have fun!
