I once won a spa package at a business lunch for moms because I had a crayon in my purse. I was with a group of women, all executives, all packing pacifiers, Wikki Stix and other kid paraphernalia without our kids in tow. When I went to Orlando as part of the travelingmom retreat, I met a fellow blogger at the airport who wanted to stop for a snack. I saved her with my traveling food stash.
But I was a little embarrassed about pulling out a Gerber fruit twist for preschoolers. Here I was, traveling without kids – and even had I been with my kids, the youngest is in middle school.
But these fruit twists are great. Only 35 calories, and 7 grams of sugar. Plus they pack well. I bring fresh fruit, too, but I had already eaten it.
Gerbers also makes dissolve in your mouth Fruit & Veggie Melts, freeze-dried snacks made of fruit and vegetable purees. They come in Truly Tropical or Very Berry Blend, and have vitamins A, C and E, and only 25 calories a serving. Plus they have no preservatives, artificial flavors or artificial sweeteners.
I am tossing them in my bag along with the crayons.
