The tropical resort town has several kid-friendly wildlife and nature centers as well as free trolley tours around the downtown area. Check the convention and visitors bureau website for discounts on hotels and airline information.

1. Gumbo Limbo Nature Center has a butterfly garden, Chiki huts and an observation tower located on a winding boardwalk.  Kids can look at several saltwater tanks filled with sea turtles, fish, sharks and rays.  A sea turtle garden is home to seven giant turtles.

2. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center is an education and ocean conservation facility with live sea turtles and wildlife.  It has a guarded beach, nature trail, playground and picnic pavilions.  Exhibits at the center include a giant leatherback sea turtle, salt water aquaria and displays of local wildlife.

3. Downtown West Palm Beach offers free, family-friendly, historic trolley and walking tours as well as a “History of Mystery” walking tour.  The trolley can also be used for transportation.  Located on the waterfront, he center is near two shopping and entertainment districts.

4. Grassy Waters Preserve is located on 20 square miles of wetland and includes a nature center, canoeing, trails for hiking and biking, and a wetlands boardwalk filled with wildlife.

5. The Palm Beach County Courthouse and Museum
 was built in 1916.  Located inside is a History Museum with two exhibits: The People Gallery and The Place Gallery, tributes to the people of Palm Beach and the natural environment. There are also rotating exhibits on display.
