Disney Cruise Line Military Discounts

by

Disney-Dream-cruise-shipAll branches of active duty, reserve and retired U.S. military personnel can save up to 50% on select Disney cruises with special military rates. Disney Cruise Line honors our brave men and women who serve our country by releasing dates of discounted cruises based upon availability, randomly throughout the year on their website at DisneyCruise.com.

A new batch of dates was just released Monday, Feb. 27 and will be available for booking through March 4th, 2012. These include 4- and 5-night Bahamian Cruises in March and April, a Mexican Riviera Cruise in April and 7-night Alaska Cruises in May. The Disney Cruise Line Specialist I spoke with said it could sometimes be months before new cruises become available, and you can expect most dates to appear during the off-season such as May-June and September-November, though they did just have a block of staterooms made available for the military on a New Year’s Eve cruise this year, so you never know!

Just to get an idea of how much you can save, for the 4-night, April 15th Bahamas Cruise now available for the military member and their family for up to three, oceanview staterooms, which can accommodate up to four or five guests comfortably, I was given a rate of $2600 for a family of three when the normal rate would be $4000. That’s a savings of 40%! The Alaska Cruises featured this week, will save you 50% or more! And, just like when you normally book a cruise, the more people sailing, the more money you will save. To receive the military discount, the military member must be sailing with your party.

If none of the current cruises work for you, check back often for new dates to be released, usually in batches of 3-10 at a time and typically 1-3 months prior to sail date. Availability is always limited to 50 staterooms, and will only be available for booking for a short amount of time, so be sure to book quickly when you find the cruise you want!

UPDATE: Just hours after posting, the April 15th Bahamian Cruise SOLD OUT at the military rate! Evidence you have to move fast. However, call to be sure other specials aren’t available for the same cruise. The Disney Cruise Line Specialist informed me of an even better deal for the same cruise. The catch? It was non-refundable.
