Breckenridge Snow Sculpture Contest Happening NOW!

2012 will be the 22nd year of International Snow Sculpture Championships in Breckenridge, CO.

Snow SculptureTwo years ago I happened upon this little gem of an event quite by accident. All my boys were up on the slopes. I decided to take a little break from writing in the lodge and went for a walk. What I found were these unbelievable snow sculptures that took my breath away. Sadly, we visited when the sculptures were starting to melt but even in this state you could see what amazing works of art they were.

Since I am not a Colorado native, I assumed that everyone must already know about this event but what I am finding out is that few do! Locals - take a look at my photos below and use it as inspiration to drive up to Breckenridge during the event dates. Even if you can’t swing a whole weekend out of it, you just can’t pass it up as a day trip. Personally, though… I would want to stay the weekend and enjoy all the skiing and fun that is known as Breck.
