Beaver Creek is a great family destination for so many reasons.  Skiing is a family sport, and it's a great bonding experience as you all share in an activity that exercises the body and soul.  The mountain is 20,000 acres long and beginners can ski at the mountain's highest point.  The Children's Ski and Snowboard School (Tel: 970-754-5325) is designed with the terrain specifically in mind.  Nine hundred qualified instructors gather throughout the year to teach children how to ski.  Each program is geared toward age and ability.  They learn to ski via the Buckaroo Express  which takes them to the Ranch, where they are trained.  For lunch, they are served healthy options like all natural Coleman meat and a yogurt bar.  They take breaks during the day and end the day with a very good knowledge of the sport.  Rates vary - check their web site for details.  They have special packages, including state passes and Epic Mix passes.  Purchasing the pass seven days in advance is a very good idea, as you can save a significant amount of money.

There is a full schedule of activities for kids all winter long.  Everyday at 3pm at the top of the escalators at the base of the Centennial Express Chair Lift, they offer Cookie Time.  On Tuesdays, families can take advantage of complimentary snow-shoeing over at the Nordic Sports Center (Tel: 970-754-5313), located at the bottom of Strawberry Park Express Lift (Chair #12) in the Strawberry Building.  Beaver Creek Village Ice Skating (Tel: 970-845-0438) is open daily and offers rentals.  On Mondays, families can go to Dance Skate Night at the Ice Rink from 6-8pm.  They have other events such as Animals of Winter, where kids meet & greet educational presentation with animals that live in the Colorado wilds in the winter, Beaver Creek’s Got Talent Contest with judges from local TV and radio will be on-hand to decide the top three winners from each division in a singing competition, Thursday Night Lights Ski Down and New Year’s Eve Glow Stick Ski Down where kids can ski down Beaver Creek Mountain illuminating the mountain with glow sticks, Drums of the Mountains, Torches of Fire Jugglers, Ice Sculpture Demonstrations, Family Friday Afternoon Club, an après ski activity for families that teaches safety and Saturday Family FunFest.

There's a lot more to Beaver Creek than meets the eye for the family vacation experience. From movie nights and Kids Nights Out, your kids will find entertainment of all kinds.  Check out the Beaver Creek Loves Kids web site today!

We loved the ski school! It was my 6 year olds first time ever on skis - he was snowplowing and stopping in 1 day. But his favorite was ice skating in the village!
