Fantasyland3aPrepare to be wowed as we were, by the new Fantasyland at Walt Disney World – the largest expansion in the Magic Kingdom’s 41-year history, doubling the size of the existing Fantasyland to 21 acres. Expansion began opening in mid-March of 2012, and it’s not over yet.

"Disneyland (and by extension Disney World) will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world." – Walt Disney

Bonding with Mom on Chevrolet's Test Track

test-trackAfter living about twelve houses down from my mom for the past eleven years, we are now living over twelve hundred miles away in Denver, Colorado. Because of this move from Florida, I don’t get to see my mom as often as I used to.

When I found out that I was going to Orlando for a sponsored retreat with Traveling Mom, I sent my mom a text asking if she wanted to meet me. I was thrilled that my mom was able to make it and we had a wonderful time catching up on the past few months, exploring the Disney parks and eating out. On the morning before we were both supposed to head back home, we explored Epcot.

D23dIf you’ve ever thought that visiting the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library was not enough reason for your family to venture to Simi Valley, California (it is!) along came the Disney exhibit to help you decide to go. The D23 Treasures from the Walt Disney Archives provides Disney fans a rare and fascinating insight into how the company evolved into the international empire it is today. Displaying over 500 selected items; the exhibit takes the visitor on a visual journey of discovery-from the early years through the development of theme parks and live action movies to the renaissance of animation in the 1990s.

Testing out Concept Cars at Disney's Chevy Test Track

Chevy TT galleryMy kids can be wimps about rides at Disney. But I love the lights and magic, the feeling that you’re defying gravity when really, it’s an optical illusion not a stomach-popping drop.

That's why I love Space Mountain; as much as we giggle on The Gold Rush and Goofy’s Barnstormer (which I’ve been told is the fastest roller coaster at Disney), the illusion of whirling around in space is priceless.

However, I have a new love: The Chevy Test Track at Epcot.

Disney the Healthy Way

healthy disneyWhen you think of Disney, odds are you think of running from ride to ride and being amused by all the characters.

Well, that’s what a group of mom bloggers found on their recent trip to Walt Disney World, too.

They discovered Disney can actually keep you fit, with the right choices.

From transportation choices (yes, walking when you can, instead of taking the boats or buses), to food options (EVERYTHING doesn’t have to be fried, though the Mickey ears ice cream treats are a must in my family), you can actually work Disney to your advantage when it comes to healthy alternatives.
