It's a family tradition for many people...to hop in the car and check out holiday lights wherever they happen to be celebrating. Maybe there's one house that's famous for it, or a community attraction that draws people in each year. Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia, is one of those spots for my family.
The
Festival in Lights has become an annual tradition for many families who treasure their time away from the craziness of Christmas, looking to escape to Callaway Gardens to reconnect with nature and each other.
If you are anywhere near Pine Mountain, about 45 minutes from Atlanta, you should try to plan a visit.
These are some tips I think will help:
–Buy your tickets in advance (you’ll save a few bucks each that you can then use to buy something cool in the holiday store)
–Bring a blanket for the trolley (you might not be cold standing in line waiting for the trolley but the wind might get you on the ride)
–Plan extra time to shop after the ride (the holiday store has some really wonderful items that you aren't likely to find anywhere else)
–If you can stay overnight, definitely do. From ziplines to bike trails to art exhibits, there’s something for everyone willing to take a moment to appreciate nature and the beautiful views around the Gardens.
Until you can get there, check out the video from my favorite section of the Lights, the snowflake land.
