A Weekend Getaway to Atlanta with your Family

Southern TravelingMom
The Omni Hotel at CNN Center can be a great property choice for your family weekend getaway in Atlanta.
atlanta-skylineA weekend won’t allow you nearly enough time to experience all that Atlanta has to offer, but you can see and do a lot if you plan properly.  If you are going to Atlanta for the first time, I recommend hitting the major attractions like the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca-Cola.  To maximize time at the attractions, I recommend staying in the middle of downtown Atlanta.

We have been to Atlanta many times and each time we go we have always chosen to stay outside of downtown Atlanta.  We have stayed near Turner Field, where the Atlanta Braves play and we have also stayed in the Perimeter several times.  On this last trip, we had the opportunity to stay at the Omni at the CNN Center.  The Omni is in a perfect location to explore Atlanta.  We handed our keys to the valet and didn’t get in our car again until we were ready to make the 5 hour drive back home.  Within walking distance from the Omni at CNN Center is a number of restaurants (both local and chains), family friendly attractions like the Georgia Aquarium, Imagine It! Children’s Museum, the CNN Center tours, Centennial Park, the Georgia Dome, Phillips Arena, and more.

When I think of the Omni properties, my first thought is not one of a family vacation but  more of a romantic getaway or a business trip.  I was surprised at how family-friendly the Omni was while at the same time making me feel downright luxurious!  The room that we stayed in was a two bed room with a small desk, chair to lounge in, and a large bathroom (with one of the cleanest bathtubs I have ever seen in a hotel!).  The bedding was soft and fluffy, the room was tastefully decorated, and we had an amazing view of the Atlanta skyline.

The Omni Sensational Kids program helps your children to feel even more welcome at the property.  When you arrive, each child will receive a backpack full of little goodies like an activity map, a magnifying glass, crayons, a kick sack, and a little treat. You can also get a fun treat of ice cold milk and delicious cookies delivered to your guest room on the first night.  When the kids heard the knock at the door and realized that the delivery was for them, they couldn’t believe their eyes!

Next time you will be spending a weekend in Atlanta with your family, take a look at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center before booking your trip.

Disclosure: Thank you to the Omni Hotel at CNN Center for covering our cost to the Georgia Aquarium.  As always, opinions are always my own and not influenced by any outside influences.

I haven't been to Atlanta in years and never with kids, but if I ever do, your post would be very helpful for planning.

I've never stayed in the center of Atlanta and the traffic takes up too much time to get in all of the sites. The Omni sounds like a great place to stay. I'll be in Atlanta this summer and I'll look into it.

Sounds like a great time! I've been to the Georgia Aquarium but not with the kids - it's on our bucket list!
