Watermelon, cakes decorated like flags with strawberries and blueberries, barbeque, fireworks and parades are just a few things that come to mind when I think of our Fourth of July celebrations. This Southern mama loves to sip her sweet tea in the shade of a big magnolia trying to escape the sweltering heat while my two children run around, wave their sparklers and watch, mouths agape, as fireworks colorfully explode in the sky. There are so many different celebrations to choose from in the South.

July 4^th Fireworks Spectacular in Savannah, Georgia – Watch an incredible fireworks display over the historic Savannah Riverfront. Grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants and pubs, check out the family fun, and hear live entertainment.

Sertoma Fourth of July Celebration in Pensacola, Florida – Plan to spend the day playing in the children’s area, eating, and listening to music. The fireworks show lights up the water below it.

Salute to Freedom in Panama City, Florida – This fireworks show is held over the Panama City Marina and attracts up to 50,000 people a year. We have attended this fireworks show and it is great for kids.

Centennial Olympic Park’s 4^th of July in Atlanta, GA – Watch the fireworks from this Olympic park. Bring a change of clothes for the kids because they will probably not be able to stay away from the Fountain of Rings!

Go 4^th On the River in New Orleans, Louisiana – Dueling barges put on a fireworks show over the Mighty Mississippi that you won’t forget!

I Love America Celebration in Biloxi, Mississippi – Listen to fee music, see a sailboat race and deep sea fishing rodeo along with a huge fireworks display!

Independence Day Celebration at the USS Alabam in Mobile, Alabama – Celebrate America at the USS Alabama. Bring your chairs and listen to the Mobile Symphonic Pops and watch the fireworks show.
