World of Harry Potter Amusement Park: Sneak Peek

FamilyFun TravelingMom
harrypotterI don't know about you, but I'm incredibly eager for the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter exhibit at Universal. I'm a huge fan of the Harry Potter series. When the books first came out, my oldest son was just 8 yrs old and really struggled to learn to read. The series was a true gift to us. He and I read every word of the Harry Potter books together as they were released, and as we turned each page he learned to not just enjoy reading, but developed a passion for it. Harry made him understand that books can take you places, in more ways than one. So we're really excited about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Amusement Park coming to Universal in Orlando, Florida, this spring, and eager to go together to insert our lives into the story, walking the streets of Hogsmeade recreated. We can't wait to go see the real life version of Hogwarts and more. Meantime, my son is now in high school, part of an Honors Literature class, and although he doesn't believe it, one of the best writers I know, in part I am sure, to the stories we read that let his imagination wander. Thanks Harry and JKR!

Hogwarts Express arrives at Hogsmeade Station as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter continues to develop at Universal Orlando Resort. As guests enter Hogsmeade, they will be greeted by the iconic, smoke-billowing steam engine, made famous in the Harry Potter books and films for transporting students to a world of magic and wonder. Opening in Spring 2010 only at Universal Orlando Resort, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will feature multiple themed attractions, shops and a restaurant.

My kids are too young to appreciate the books right now, but I can't wait to visit! We will be heading down there in the spring and hope to make the visit.

My kids' experience was much the same. We read every book together and checked out from the library the books on tape or CD to listen to them yet again being read by the incomparable Jim Dale during every famil road trip.
