BWHall_frombeach_lrValentine’s Day is right around the corner, and there are lots of options here on the east coast for swoon-worthy events to share with your sweetie. I’m going to be sharing some of them with you in the next few days. First up: a romantic renewal by the sea, right here in New Jersey, my home state.

Atlantic City may be famous for casino gambling, Steel Pier and the Miss America Pageant, but it’s also a lovely seaside resort overlooking the mighty Atlantic Ocean. Which means, of course, that it’s an idyllic backdrop for a romantic wedding or vow renewal. And what can be more magical than a wedding or renewal on Valentine’s Day, the day set aside to celebrate “us”?

The good people at the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority are offering a non-denominational group wedding, civil union and vow renewal ceremony in the Ballroom at Boardwalk Hall on Valentine’s Day. The event will include a champagne toast, wedding cake and photo opportunities. And, to warm my money-saving heart, the event is absolutely free!

Couples must preregister online for the event by February 10. Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 609-449-7126 for more information. Those wishing to be married must obtain a New Jersey marriage license, which has a three day mandatory waiting period. So act now! Vow renewals do not require a license.

The ceremony will start at 2 pm, so why not make a night of it and book a room nearby? After all, this is the night to celebrate your couple-dom, and Atlantic City is “always turned on.”
