Going on vacation with your family? Chances are, you'll need to establish a budget and may need to control your expenses. Some vacation locations make this easier than others. Several weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit Smugglers' Notch, Vermont with my family.
Smugglers' Notch rooms offer full kitchens, so you can save money by bringing and preparing your own food. While you can purchase food at the general store in the resort, I'd recommend that you instead bring food from home - the selection on-site is limited and expensive. You'll need to bring all staples - from coffee filters to sugar, because there's no food in the condos.
Kids will love the variety of activities that are included - if you think your kids will want to do the daily camp (which my kids loved), then I'd recommend the FamilyFest Vacation Package, which includes most of the day camps. However, if you aren't sure, or have one child that's not going to attend camp, then there's another option - the SimplySmuggs Vacation Package, which offers 25% off camps. Even if you skip the camps, there's lots of other stuff, including the KidZone (which has inflatables), and eight pools.
