Ways to save when traveling to Nicaragua.

Here is my list of things to do in Nicaragua on a budget:

1. Leon – In this area I highly recommend visiting the bell tower of the oldest cathedral in Central America. For only $2 per person you can go up to its roof top from where you get a skyline view of the city. You also get to see how workers ring the bells manually.

2. Granada – If you want to get to see the town but don't want a private guide. Take a horse carriage ride instead. It will take you around, the driver will tell you some facts all for only $10 for 1 hour tour.

3. Masaya volcano – This is a national park where you can walk up to the crater of an active volcano. Here you can stand just meters away from it and take a look inside. It’s known as the most accessible active volcano in Central America. All you have to pay is $10 to enter the park for the car and family.

4. Ometepe Island – The best way to explore this gorgeous island is on a horseback tour. It is super cheap and a fun activity that any kid would love. You will only need to pay $3 per hour per horse.
