arenal-lake-viewMy husband has many interests and loves to try new things, and that is one of the reasons I love him. One of his many interests is skateboarding. La Fortuna and Arenal are great places to hang out and relax in the thermal baths and get free lava shows coming out of the volcano. But since my husband has this exciting new obsession, we decided to try the other side of the Arenal Lake.

What’s on the other side of the lake?

There is a hotel called Tilawa with a world famous skate park with view of the beautiful Arenal Lake to die for. Oh, and the best part of it all is that it is free!

Who would have said that taking a turn around one of the mountains, we all, including our five year old son, was going to make us drop our jaws and gasp with air. Yes, that’s how amazing the view is from here! This side of Lake Arenal has got to be one of Costa Rica’s many wonders!

While we were there we found out about another great quality of Lake Arenal: it is a great spot for wind surfing. I’m not a wind surfer but judging by the strength of the wind (we couldn’t even stand in the shoreline) wind surfers must have a lot of fun here.

So for the next four days, while my husband did front-side and backside flips (teaching my son in between sets) I got to sit back on my lakefront hotel room’s patio and just be grateful for these moments.
