eating_outI live in Antigua Guatemala which is a colonial, small city surrounded by volcanoes and filled with beautiful hotels, handcrafts markets, bars and restaurants. One of my absolute favorite things to do in this place is EAT OUT!

Here are 5 of those great restaurants:

1. Café de la Escalonia

Cafe de la Escalonia is a beautiful open air restaurant located in what used to be a coffee farm in the southern area of the small town of Antigua Guatemala. But this isn’t just a good restaurant. The place also offers books, ornamental plants and local handcrafts. It’s great for stopping by on a family day out.

2. Chateau DeFay

Chateau DeFay is the only vineyard of Guatemala and is located on what used to be a coffee farm just minutes away from Antigua, Guatemala. This is a great place that offers a miniature golf course, a wine tour and a restaurant.

3. Gaia

Gaia is a beautiful restaurant that offers delicious Mediterranean and Arabic dishes in one of Antigua’s most popular areas: Calle del Arco. This restaurant serves lunch, dinner and drinks during the day. At night it also becomes a very popular bar. Here you get the option of making a reservation for private parties.

4. Café Condesa

Cafe Condesa is a restaurant that has the best location any restaurant in Antigua could have. It is right in front of the Central Park and just steps away from the handcrafts market. To enter the restaurant you have to walk pass an interesting bookstore called Casa del Conde. The restaurant has a small yet beautiful garden and 3 more beautifully decorated rooms for you to choose from. It is said by locals that they sell the best coffee in Antigua.

5. Bistrot Cinq

Bistrot Cinq is an elegant French restaurant in Antigua Guatemala located just two blocks away from the central park. But not everything is French food here they also serve some delicious dishes with Caribbean influences.
