Since we usually travel with our family of six, I typically book two Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandahs on a Disney Cruise. However, we had to leave our teen son at home this time when we sailed on the Disney Wonder to the Mexican Riviera.  Therefore, we booked one stateroom which sleeps five.  We arrived early to the Port of Angeles – so, I thought we might have a chance to request an upgrade.  And, I was right!  There was a one-bedroom concierge suite available.

Located on Deck 8, the suite featured a double verandah, a sitting room, two TVs and DVD players, a wet bar with a dining area, two bathrooms, a dressing area with large walk-in closet and beds for five.  We were thrilled with the extra room for our 7-night voyage, and even more delighted to have an extra bathroom – especially with our teen daughter in tow!

One of the most delightful aspects of staying in a suite was the benefit of the concierge services.  Although we didn’t require much of his planning assistance, Tawanda provided us with information and amenities which made our cruise extra special.  He learned what drinks and snacks we liked and kept our refrigerator and pantry stocked.  When our traveling companions were purchasing bottled water to carry off the ship before excursions, we simply loaded up our day bags with what Tawanda had stocked our fridge the night before. He brought us DVDs, gave the kids arcade game cards and hooked us up with 100 complimentary internet minutes.  For any meal, we could order from any of the dining rooms and have it brought to our suite by room service instead of having to order from a pre-set room service menu.  On a late day when we were busy shooting video of Port Adventures in Puerto Vallarta, we missed our main dinner seating. We simply ordered from the menu where we would have eaten that night and dined in our suite.
