This past weekend we headed to Orlando for a short trip.  Grandma was going and we wanted to take a mini vacation with her.  Unfortunately, my 5 year old broke his collar bone the week that we left.  With a sling and strict instructions to participate in no activity from the pediatric orthopedic, we suddenly found ourselves adjusting our itinerary that was full of amusement park rides and water slides.

Luckily, the tickets could be pushed to the next trip but it still left us asking the question “What will we do all weekend?”  On Saturday we spent a lot of time exploring Downtown Disney, an area we haven’t spent much time visiting on our Orlando trips.  After visiting LEGO Imagination Center, my son proclaimed it to be one of the best days of his life.  According to my son, these are four awesome things to do at LEGO Imagination Center in Downtown Disney:

Take pictures with the LEGO statues – There are several statues created from LEGO blocks all around the area.  Our favorites were the sea dragon in the water and the dogs!

Fill a bucket from the Pick a Brick Wall – The kids loved filling up their containers by picking LEGO blocks and accessories from the world’s largest Pick a Brick Wall. They were able to pick up some new things that you can only purchase in specialty sets.

Play in the Demonstration Area – LEGO blocks of all sizes are housed in LEGO tables perfect for little ones.  There is also a racing ramp where you can build a LEGO car and race it with others.  Even though it was busy, there are plenty of tables and you won’t have to wait too long.  Let the kids play with the LEGO blocks (both the DUPLO size and smaller size blocks) while you relax for a few moments. 

Build your own LEGO people – Inside the store you will find a small area where you can build your own LEGO people.  You can put hair or a hat on them, make them silly or sad, pirates or cowboys, and then you can purchase them to take home with you!
