Top pools on cruise ships for family cruisers

Which cruise ships offer the best pools for family cruisers. Cruise Buzz Traveling Mom offers her top three cruise lines famous for their innovative cruise ship swimming pools and family friendly pools.
oasis-of-the-seas-sports-deckWhen I talk with families about cruise vacations at Cruise Holidays of Mission Viejo, they are always interested in cruise ship amenities that are available for their children. Since I am a big fan of swimming I usually gravitate towards ships that have adequate pool space that caters to all members of the family.

Top three cruise line swimming pools:

1. Disney Cruise Line
The Disney Cruise Line knows how to help a Traveling Mom out. Disney Cruise Line provides freshwater pools for kids, families and adults. In addition to crowd favorites like Goofy's Pool (4-foot-deep) and Mickey's Pool (2-foot-deep), the Disney Dream (the newest ship to enter the fleet) will feature the AquaDuck. The Aqua Duck is a thrilling 765-foot-long water coaster. Parents love the Quiet Cove Pool where adults can relax, read and lounge in peace.

Although the NCL pool experience can get a little rowdie with revelers, NCL does offer kid's pools and waterslides. I am especially interested in the NCL Epic and the family friendly innovations aboard this new ship. The exhilarating Aqua Park features multiple slides with multiple thrills. Then there’s The Epic Plunge, the only tube slide at sea that puts the blast of inner-tubing into the core of a bowl slide, with a thrilling drop through a 200-foot long tube. The Aqua Park also includes two main pools with arching water effects that illuminate at night, five hot tubs, a wading pool and a kid’s pool that features whimsical sculptures, water sprays and a slide.

Royal Caribbean offers innovative ships that cater to active cruisers. Today the largest ship at sea, the Oasis of the Seas has an impressive array of water attractions to please everyone in the family. Stretching the length of the ship, the Pool and Sports Zone on the Oasis of the Seas is a playground for passengers of all ages, featuring private cabanas, four unique types of pools, and two FlowRider surf simulators.

Families can spend all day enjoying the many pools. There is an intimate adults-only Solarium, the Beach Pool which has a sloped entry where passengers are able to wade into the water or relax in colorful beach chairs under an umbrella as the water rolls gently beneath. Lastly the Main Pool rounds out the complex. Families traveling with small children will enjoy the H2O Zone Aqua Park with the colorful water features and wading pools.

Since most of the best pools at sea for kids seem to be on the newest ships, make sure you contact your travel agent or Cruise Buzz from Cruise Holidays of Mission Viejo. Making sure that you double check that the ship you are considering has what you expect will avoid disappointment.
