This is part five in a six-part series reviewing my experience aboard the Disney Wonder. In January, 2009 I was invited to attend a Mommy Blogger Disney Cruise aboard the Disney Wonder. The event was sponsored by BSM Media and Disney. They paid for everything and wined and dined me within an inch of my life. However, the deal was that if I chose to write about the experience (hello? blogger?) I would be honest and completely transparent in my review. This series reflects my own opinions about my experience aboard the Disney Wonder. An important part of any cruise line is the food. It's included in the price and you get all you want. It's a glutton's paradise. As you can imagine, on my Disney Wonder cruise I was that glutton and it was, indeed, paradise. Each evening of your Disney cruise, you'll have the opportunity to dine in a different restaurant. Aboard the Disney Wonder we dined at Parrot Cay (a relaxed atmosphere with vibrant colors and grilled offerings) and Animator's Palate (the walls change from black & white animation cells to color animation cells as you dine). Our original dining rotation included Triton's, an "elegant dinner inspired by the 'under the sea' theme of Disney's The Little Mermaid." Instead of Triton's, however, Disney treated us to an evening at Palo (Disney's signature restaurant at sea; it's adults-only and will cost $15/adult to add it to your rotation). Palo was a divine dinner with large tables and quiet atmosphere. The cost of $15 to add it to your rotation is well worth it. Perhaps you could skip Parrot Cay one evening (while the kids are busy at a club, of course) and dine at Palo.If you've ever been on a cruise before, you may have been assigned to sit at a table with complete strangers. That was a part of cruising I detested. Why on earth would I want to sit with strangers on my vacation? I want to focus on my family or the party I'm with. Disney recognized this issue and you'll only be assigned a table large enough for the members of your party. There is no need for small talk with strangers. For me, this was an important detail.Looking for a snack during the day? The Wonder offers Beach Blanket Buffet, Pluto's Dog House, and Pinocchio's Pizzeria. Goofy's Galley servers ice cream, fresh fruit, wraps, and paninis. Of course, Disiney offers the option of 24-hour room service. When you dock at Castaway Cay you'll have lunch at the island barbecue. Look sharp, though. You'll notice that the same staff who wait on you in the dining rooms are here as well. They'll recognize you, say hello, and help you with any questions. If you're sailing on the Disney Magic, you'll have a few opportunities to meet Disney characters at character breakfasts and during Tea with Wendy Darling (which takes place on days at sea with no port; this activity is for families only). One of the fun things Disney does is themed dinners. On our evening at Parrot Cay diners were encouraged to dress up as pirates. As you can see from the video below, everyone got into the act.Careful what you order on a Disney cruise. You may just get it!
