Families can count on superb dining choices, spacious and comfortable accommodations, and non-stop on-board activities when cruising. With cruising steadily receiving the highest customer satisfaction ratings throughout the travel industry, families can count on an experience that will delight the entire group. Today’s ships are full of activities and amenities to please all the members of the family. A cruise offers activities that range from limited activity (think nap by the pool) to physically demanding activities (climbing on a rock wall.)
Typical activities found on most mass-market and contemporary cruise lines are: enrichment classes, sports courts, spas, gyms, movie theaters, pools, water parks, shops, quiet zones, live entertainment, ping pong, mini-putt, golf simulator, zip lines, ice skating, game rooms, and bowling. If the family wants a little alone time, then kids can play in the supervised kid's area, and the older children can congregate in the ships teen center for some fun all their own. More unique activities found on smaller or luxury ships are: the use of bikes which can be used in port (Uniworld) or the use of kayaks and windsurfers launched form a retractable water sports platform on Paul Gauguin Cruises.
With the all inclusive pricing of a cruise most of the activities are covered by the cruise fair. Some tips for making sure that your family’s cruise vacation is the best ever are:
- Make sure that you review the ship and the amenities available. Not all cruise ships within a cruise line will offer the same amenities. NCL does not have a bowling alley on every ship and Royal Caribbean does not have an ice-skating rink on all their ships.
- Most but not all activities are covered by the cruise fare. Ask for clarification about up-front charges before you cruise.
- Ask if there are age restrictions or height requirements to avoid disappointment.
If you have any questions about a cruise line and their activities, please contact Cruise Buzz at Cruise Holidays of Mission Viejo.
