Foodie TravelingMom21 Not-To-Miss Brunch Places in Chicago

Must we trade brunch dates and Bloody Mary’s for barely edible pancakes and sippy cups once we have kids? Hardly. For those living in the middle of Missouri, there are only a few options for hitting the "big city" -- St. Louis, Mo., or Memphis, Tenn. Last spring, my gal pal Jessie and I chose to visit Memphis for the first time.

Is a Platinum American Express Card Worth It?

americanexpressLast year, I read this post - 5 Reasons to Get a Platinum American Express Card from Luxury Travel Mom, and I realized that I could probably get lots of use from the perks and benefits from the card.  I patiently waited until I received an upgrade offer from my currently Gold Card, and I finally got that call.  If I upgraded, I'd be eligible for 25,000 bonus membership rewards miles.

I upgraded and my brand-new Platinum Amex Card arrived via the mail.  I don't live Tina Fey's (or Luxury Travel Mom's) life, so will I get value from the card?

When I called to activate the card, I was immediately transferred to a customer service rep who was able to help me set up the benefits of my card.  Each year, you can specify an airline to get reimbursements from.  Since I have a flight already planned on Delta, I specified Delta as my airline.  For this year, I'll be reimbursed for all of the incidental expenses on Delta - including baggage fees, food and beverage fees, and more (except for internet, which is billed via GoGo Internet).

I'll also have a membership to Priority Pass - which will give me access to airline clubs throughout the world.  When I have long delays or layovers, I know I'll appreciate that!

I'll keep you posted on how the card's benefits work for me.
