Last year, my family went on our first family ski vacation, so this year, we decided to lace up our boots up once again.  This time, we traveled to the Lake Champlain Region of New York, right over the border from Vermont. 

We stayed for three nights at the Plattsburgh Comfort Inn and Suites - a family-friendly hotel that offers a huge fun zone with indoor miniature golf and two bowling lanes.  My kids would have been perfectly happy just staying in our hotel and visiting the small indoor water park.  But, I had a more adventurous vacation planned!

On our first day, we headed to Ausable Chasm, a gorgeous four-season tourist attraction (pictured at left).  We were treated to a one-hour guided tour, and the four of us donned ice cleats on our boots to give us traction on the ice.  I was able to get some fabulous photos, and the kids just loved the adventureous hike.  I really hope to be able to visit in the summer next time, when I'm sure it's just as gorgeous.

The second day, we headed to the Titus Mountain Family Ski Area.  My kids were enrolled in the two-hour ski school, I got a private lesson, and my husband headed out to the slopes on his own.  Of course, after just one hour, my children were skiing better than I ever have.  I had to drag my little daughter out of there - she'd still be skiing if we didn't stop her.

Overall, it was a wonderful family vacation.  It was equal parts relaxing and adventurous, and my family really enjoyed spending the time together.
