Must we trade brunch dates and Bloody Mary’s for barely edible pancakes and sippy cups once we have kids? Hardly. For those living in the middle of Missouri, there are only a few options for hitting the "big city" -- St. Louis, Mo., or Memphis, Tenn. Last spring, my gal pal Jessie and I chose to visit Memphis for the first time.

Girlfriend Getaway: 2012 Zooma Women's Race Series

Zooma3FriendsRun. Laugh. Celebrate. That’s exactly why I grab my girls and my running shoes as often as I can to enjoy a weekend of active fun. I knew I found a good match when I went to the About page of the Zooma Women’s Race Series and saw those three words. Their mission to inspire women to live healthy and active lives aligns perfectly with mine and all that I do via my site, Run Wifey Run and my Race & Relax Series.

The Muscle Milk Light 2012 Zooma Women’s Race Series will hold five events across the country kicking off with the Zooma Texas Half Marathon & 5K on March 31, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa.

That’s right – SPA. Zooma is known for their “after-party expos” where participants celebrate their running triumphs with a little partying and pampering. As a mom who’s always on the run – no pun intended – I cherish opportunities to recharge with the gals while doing something active and special to take care of me.

I was invited to participate as an ambassador for the Zooma Atlanta Half Marathon & 5K on April 22, 2012, at Lake Lanier Island Resort and I can’t wait to experience the fun firsthand. I’m hoping to add at least one more of their races to my travel calendar this year. The full schedule includes:

Zooma Texas Half Marathon & 5K on March 31, 2012

Zooma Atlanta Half Marathon & 5K on April 22, 2012

Zooma Annapolis Half Marathon & 10K on June 2, 2012

Zooma Cape Cod Half Marathon & 10K on September 22, 2012

Zooma Great Lakes Half Marathon & 5K on October 20, 2012

For more information, visit www.ZoomaRun.com.

Until next time, I’m off and running …

Disclosure: I am an ambassador for the Zooma Atlanta Half Marathon & 5K which includes my race registration. As always, my thoughts and opinions are all my own.
