Blissdom is coming up, and bloggers across the US and Canada are planning their wardrobes and schedules. This past weekend, with some wild Wednesday weather in the forecast for the Northeast, Twitter was a flutter with numerous bloggers checking their airline's policies for changing reservations due to weather concerns.Financially, it makes sense for the airlines to make weather-related changes as simple and easy as possible. After all, it's in their best interest to fill every plane, and if they have capacity prior to the storm, it's much better to get those passengers on their way. That way, they won't have to worry about rebooking once the flights are canceled. Unfortunately, not all airlines have embraced this mentality.
So, before you book your flight, make sure you understand what the change policies are. Many airlines don't allow for weather-related changes unless they've issued a weather bulletin - which may not coincide with your timeline. In addition to a change fee, you may have to pay the difference in cost between the two flights. Knowing this information in advance will help you prepare for any potential weather issues.
As for me - I'm currently crossing my fingers that Delta posts a weather-related bulletin!
