Holiday Tradition Romantic Getaway for Grandparents

Traveling Grandmom
Holiday tradition for Traveling Grandmom is a 2-night romantic getaway to The Broadmoor.
BroadmoorOne of my favorite new holiday traditions is a 2-night romantic getaway to The Broadmoor a few days before Christmas.  I love the holidays, love the hustle and bustle of family arriving in from out of town, running from one party to another, but my hubby (Grandpa Flint) doesn’t at all.  He gets really stressed out, so we’ve worked out a compromise. We take a short staycation getaway that’s all about us, no family and no commitments, other than dinner reservations.

There’s no better de-stresser than The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. From our Denver metro home, it’s just 90 miles away. Surrounded by the mountains and framed by Cheyenne Lake, the historic Broadmoor sits on 3,000 beautifully sculpted acres with splashes of brightly-colored flora and manicured lawns.

From room service to a romantic dinner at our favorite on-site restaurant The Summit to a couples massage followed by a pedicure, our visit gave us what we both needed, relaxing downtime just the two of us. The key is to ditch the schedule and just enjoy each other’s company.

Mmmm, next time, we won’t wait so long to getaway.  And why should we? The Broadmoor is offering a “Spa Couple’s Romantic Hideaway” through April 30, 2011. Included in the package is accommodations, incidental service fee, 70-minute couples Swedish massage, spa gratuities, and a romantic dinner for two.

What’s your favorite romantic getaway that’s close to home?
