Yes, I'm sitting home on Memorial Day Weekend. But, this is the "calm before the storm!"
We generally take our large vacation in May, and in the summer, we take shorter road trips in our "extended neighborhood" of New England. These are a great way for us to get away without having to spend a small fortune on airfare and car rental. We aren't skimping on activities though, and have found some great ways to keep the kids entertained while we are on vacation, including finding resorts with built-in entertainment such as day camps.
This summer, we are hitting the road at least three times - to New Hampshire, Martha's Vineyard, and Vermont. Each of these trips will involve different activities, and innovative ways to save money while on vacation, and I look forward to writing about each of them.
