Even though I'm the Traveling Finance Mom, I've also a Walt Disney World Moms Panelist, and occasionally I do something, or learn about something so fun that I just have to write about it here.
Last month, I went to Walt Disney World as part of the Disney Sports Media trip, to run the Princess Half-Marathon and learn more about the sportier side of Disney. On our last day, we headed over to the Richard Petty Driving Experience, located right on Disney property, to ride alongside a professional driver.
While the Richard Petty Driving Experience also offers a driving class followed by a drive alone experience, we didn't have enough time for that. Instead, we had the chance to take several loops around the track as a passenger.
After getting into our driving gear (don't I look so stylish?), we waited for our turn to ride with the driver. Until you try it, you really can't believe how fast 140 miles really is, and how close those drivers come to hitting the sides of the track. I had the ultimate faith in my driver, but wow, it is quite the experience.
I think the Richard Petty Driving Experience is perfect for families with older kids looking to do something totally out of the norm for a Disney trip. To learn more about the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Walt Disney World, visit their Web site.
Disclosure: I received the driving experience, along with other activities and lodging/meals at no cost as part of the Sports Media Event. As a moms panelist, I am not a Disney employee. The postings here are my own and do not represent the positions or opinions of the Disney Company.
