I love to watch things being made. I'm fascinated by the process of creation. Are you, too?I've taken the factory tour at Chicago-based Eli's Cheesecake World so many times, they might just make me an honorary leader next time I show up. No kidding; I may live-tweet an event for them this summer. Not every tour is sweet, or child-friendly for that matter. For example, before we were parents, my husband and I took the tour at the Kohler plant in Kohler, Wisconsin. There's a lot to learn about making toilets and tubs, but participants must be at least 14 years old.The fab women over at AlphaMom beat me to it and compiled a great list of family-friendly factory tours. Factory tours are so much more fun than merely watching the car go through the car wash, (though we did bank some hours doing that when my boys were young). And you usually get a treat at the end- a crayon, a piece of cheesecake, a scoop of ice-cream- what could be better? If you have a favorite factory tour, let me know if the commentsKim blogs at Hormone-colored Days, tweets and dreams about taking the Ben and Jerry's tour.
