It's no secret that one of my favorite staycations is the Bronx Zoo. Though I can't travel back to South Africa whenever the urge hits, I can travel with the kids to the Bronx and explore the African exhibits.
Fall is an equally exciting time at the Bronx Zoo because there are wonderful activities for kids of all ages.
The fall season kicks off Toddler Time Tuesdays. From 10:00 am to 1:00 pm every Tuesday the zoo becomes a toddler friendly world of excitement. With a special, Toddler Time Map you explore the kid-friendly exhibits and activities. The two hour tour full of sing-alongs and fun facts highlights monkeys, baboons, mice, and the World of Reptiles. Your toddler can even bring his teddy bear to meet the brown bears of the Bronx Zoo. The great news about Toddler Time Tuesdays is that with a paying adult ticket two children enter for FREE.
One of the highlights of fall at the Bronx Zoo is "Boo at the Zoo" which features a very popular haunted safari. Weekends in October are filled with great fall activities like pumpkin carving, hay rides, and magic shows. Get lost in the hay maze or visit with the bats and spooky cats. Kids 3-12 years old who dress in wildlife costumes receive a free admission ticket with a paying adult.
If you are looking for fall fun on a budget, the Bronx Zoo provides a world of adventure. It's not just about the animals anymore.
